moonlight

My first attemt at moonlight photography. It was 6 degrees outside. ( I was in the truck ) I wanted to try out my 480 mm F5.5 Meyer goerlitz Doppel-plasmat D.R.P. Dr Rudolph. I have had this lens for a while and just now getting around to putting it on a board. I was going to contact JG to see about a trade for a fuzzy, but now that I have used it I'm not so sure about trading it off. I need to make a back extention so I can see what it will do as a 800mm F-11 with the front element off.

Great image. Don’t trade the lens. It has a fantastic name and I really like the results you’re getting.

There's no "failure" in your reciprocity effect. Can't tell from the monitor if it's Apo Ronar sharp, but at 30 minutes in 6 degree weather, it's plenty sharp enough! I don't know who made the bellows on your V8, but an 800 would be quite a stretch. I would think 3 inches of top hat lens board would be better, and the 'dorf front standard could handle it.

Very cool! Was this in our recent string of cold, clear, nights, and big moons?
We've had some exceptionally photogenic weather!

About what milepost? I'm sitting in my office on Snoqualmie Ridge (down the road from the Falls) looking at this right now. Very nice. Sure beats looking at software source code! It's clear, cool and dark, but very windy outside right now.

Thanks for the comments. It was taken right by the freeway on the way to alpental 1st exit going east and left under freeway and your there. Where the road that goes down to Franklin falls is, that is now snowed in. I've thought about a top hat but with 2" for my Packard shutter and then 6lbs of glass ( at the end of however long of extension I would need for infinity +), I just don't want to have to crank the tilt levers that tight. Haven't done critical test yet but looks like it might be able to hang with my red dot. I took this a couple nights ago on the full moon. Bellows were a little crunchy closing after. Made a note to myself to carry a small paintbrush to clean off very dry frost that grew during exposure. If I was to do a multi-hour exposure, I would throw something over the bellows, and warm it up before closing, if possible.
