Cracking Up

Cracking Up

I took this shot of the art installation at the Tate Modern gallery on London's South Bank at the beginning of December 2007. Various people tripped down the crack of course, but the cordoned-off area must have been much more dangerous...

I attempted to do a pin line with a piece of card. It didn't really work because the light crept underneath so the final result is a bit heavy. But it has given it a kind of odd three-dimensional feel which I quite like.

I submitted this photograph to the Viewfinder Gallery 'Open Salon' exhibition at the beginning of this year (2010) and was delighted to find it had been selected to hang in the 'Open Salon Showcase' in the centre of Greenwich for a couple of weeks.

Thanks for all your comments. The 'filled in' crack is indeed still there for all to see - I imagine they must have thought twice about doing it in the first place!
