apug_scala_woman_silhouette

I took this early 2005 when I first started to test Agfa Scala, the B&W slide film. This was taken in contrasty afternoon light, late summer I think. Back then the official Scala processor for Australia was just a 15 minute drive from where I lived so it was easy for me to try out.

I think this roll was rated at 400. I really liked the look of the film & was planning to shoot a lot of it in late 2005, then Agfa went under. The Australian agent for Agfa told this lab the chemistry supplies would be unavailable by December so they decided to stop processing pretty much straight away. And that was the end of that.

I also like the composition but I would be inclinded to crop half the shadow foreground. Cheers

Thanks for the comments. Kevin I don't have any Scala left. I went to buy some in late '05 & that's when I was told the lab was closing, so I didn't buy any. Shame as I was planning to shot it a lot in 645 which I think would have been really nice. A year or so back I did test out the dr5 service which is very good, just not as easy as driving to Artarmon.

Tex thanks for your suggestion. It has occured to me that some of that black at the bottom might be the space between frames. I scanned this a few years ago & I was very new to scanning then. These days I would scan & then invert the image to crop to the exact frame. Anyway, I don't really mind the black base & would only crop slightly to return it to correct frame edge.
