Another good example of street photojournalism. Before I saw this, I always thought that police in shorts were only part of the old hot parts of the British Empire. When you say flash, can I take it that it was flash combined with a longer shutter speed. I have a night shot programme on my Pentax MZ7 which is flash with 1 second to capture out of flash range background.
It gets very hot in Las Vegas during the summer, even at night it can be 40C. I"m not much of a street photographer, but this one makes me feel how hot it is. Thanks for sharing.
The officers in the shorts ride mountain bikes in the Fremont street area....they now regularly "sweep" the area as upper Fremont Street Experience is quite popular with tourists....they have apprehended the suspect and called in the paddy wagon....the officers in the squad cars wear long khakis, all year long....Bike cops..leather boots and longs even in the summer heat and the swat teams and special units...full military garb....camo etc and vests..
hey i just realized the above post was 1000 for old Dave....time for a libation, the wetting of the whistle, time for a toast "for the thirst that is yet to come"
thanks all for a really enjoyable forum...after 2 years this week was my first photo posts....hope to get some current "stuff" up in a couple of years!
Dave:
Did you use a filter? I'm curious because the shield on the car didn't show up very well. I'm left wondering if a filter canceled out the color of the graphics????
Joey good question, shield? you mean the word police on the bottom of the car? If so remember it is reflective, and "the angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection" so it would be reflective away from the camera at the same angle the flash struck it......(used on camera flash with 45 mm lens/ 645 format-this camera is in portrait position i.e. not horizontal.....I am starting to use this set up more and more for street shooting....
