Indeed an interesting subject matter for a series. I would've cropped out the far-left, eliminating both the dark gash as well as the last sitting gentleman. This would preserve the tonal balance of the image and the "last man sitting" would draw the viewing eye into the picture, accenuating depth.
Iserious you are totally correct IMHO and it has been done so on the web site soon to open....this is the lead picture....thanks....I shoot a lot of these by removing the view finder hood on the F3 and composing while letting the camera sit on the cafe table stopping down and using timed delay exposure....this the comp is not always spot on...
