I took this in August '08 when I had a few days in Bangkok at the end of my South East Asia 5 week trip. This was at the Chatuchak market which is enormous - it covers an area of something like 20 acres. 7 days a week there are plant & animal sellers but the weekend is the big time when everything is open.
It specialises in arts, second hand books & clothes by young designers. I was there on a Saturday afternoon & noticed groups of cool & interesting looking young Thais wondering about. It would be a good place for them to come & find cheap limited edition clothes. If I had more time in Thailand I would go there every weekend to photograph people.
This young woman was with a couple of friends. I liked her hair & the strange doll she was carrying. When I asked if I could take her photo one of the friends took the doll from her & spent a minute fixing its hair & arranging its clothes. I wish I had shot a wider aperture like f/4 or 2.8 to blur the background people a bit more. Yet another thing to remember for next time.
