I love it that you left so much sky in the frame, as the top layer of clouds really adds to the composition. Very nice indeed!
 
A bit bland for my taste. Could use a lot of contrast control to bring out all the areas. Also splitting the picture equally into sky and earth is a choice but can tend to make pictures very static. Personally I would suggest finding which one you want to feature and crop accordingly.

You make a valid point about the contrast. The other image was taken with an orange filter to show a little more life in the clouds. I found it difficult to get both of them to behave. This is how the Blue Ridge and Great Smokey Mountains present themselves and where they get their names. Unlike the dryer air out west, you are not likely to find a really clear day unless you happen to show up at the right time.
