I wondered what ever happened to him. I am from southern Indiana in the US and we wore out a few children of the sun tapes back in the day. Glad to see he's still rockin.

Yeah, Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs. His version of Somewhere over the Rainbow is the one I like the best. When did you take this, it looks relatively recent, going on his appearance?

Mick.

Hi mick. This was taken at the 2005 festival, very loud.... lucky I had the F2... vibrations would have killed anything else!
Tony

don't know him but the photo does tell a great story

Thanks for that Tony. By the way I think the detail in his leather pants and face is terrific, I assume you didn't have to push the film?

Tony Sipes, Billy Thorpe died of a heart attack early this year, I think he was 60 years old only. I know that he lived and worked in the USA for about a decade, perhaps you knew him from that period.

Mick.

Plenty of light Mick, just kept the Tri-X at 400 and gave slightly longer dev. I normally rate Tri-X at 250 to 320, depending on what I'm doing.
Tony

Nice shot, Tony, and it captures Thorpie's character. I saw him in the Duxton in Perth in Feb '04 and said "Billy Thorpe!" and he ignored me, so I said "Billy Thorpe, Australian rock music legend" and he said "What can I do for you?"
