Very hard contrast (like rim lighting?) and texture for such a soft and delicate subject. Maybe it works like hot & cold, sweet & sour etc.

The scan is quite rubbish - but it is the best that I can manage with the digital kit I have.
The actual print does have deep blacks but the highlights do have some graduations in them - so it is not quite as deep black and bright white as the scan suggests.
