Hasselblad

Experience with the Hasselblad v series?

#1
Howdy y'all,

Been shooting with my 1970 Hasselblad 500c for about 2 months or so and I think I've figured out how to utilize the system best for me. My experience with the 500c is likely different then most peoples, since shooting film has always been an artistic medium for me rather then "just how photos were taken." I really am just wondering what the general opinion on the V series is from actual users of the camera, both the people who shot with it in the 70s and 80s and people like me who still shoot film now.

I have the 500cm, just a few years newer than yours . I used it since 1978 , bought it for wedding photography which I did for about 7 years then just did my own photo stuff. I would hand hold it while using a pentameter or a tripod , most used lens were the 50mm, 80mm and 150mm. Now days I use mostly a tripod with the 80mm lens, but keep the 2 or 3 other lens close by in the car as the whole kit weighs a bit to much for me to tote around for very far. I will often prelease the shutter and use a cable release when using a tripod, other times just get the Rollieflex out.

I waited over 40 years before being able to afford Hasselblad ! Then in 2002 I got a small /'Lump Sum' tax free on my Retirement Pension and as I was still working in loacl Press Photography I could buy it and offset cost over several years against Income Tax as it was for 'Work Purposes' got a new 500 501CM + a free Prism + A12 back = 80mm f2.8 CFE Planar T* lens. Later I got a new 50mm f4 Cfi DistagonT* and a second-hand 180mmf4 CFi Sonnar, 2 A16 backs that I use a lot and in Hong Kong bought an Extension tube ( NOT CHEAP -- those Days are OVER in Hong Kong!) KI did a VIDEO all about my gear with actual PRINTS -- you can see it here :

Funnily enough this was one of the videos I watched when looking into the hasselblad. Definitely helped me out seeing how much I would eventually spend within the system.
