A swampy piece of land, early in the morning. The sun soon rises and the mist has begun to quietly leave the scene.
I wanted to capture the very quiet mood of the scene, I am not sure I succeed?
Constructive critique on choice of subject, composition, printing, etc is most welcome!
I have not seen this before, but you are absolutely right! Reminds me of when I was a kid and had a jar with a stick insect that eventually got loose and reproduced itself, leaving the whole house full of creeps, to my mom's great horror.
I have this print framed and hanging on the wall; will from now on look at it with two completely different set of eyes.
Normally such dark partial trunks such you have on the right can be a distraction. In this case I am surprised at how well it holds the image together instead.
Perhaps a little heavy on the burning on the top of the image. A little less would open up the feeling of the light and mists, but it is a matter of your intentions. Right now, my eyes are nicely drawn along the 'horizon' where it is lighter behind the trees. Lightening the upper portion would give more of a look of the light descending. Just a slightly different 'feel'. One might be able to get both.
Very nice.......it has a very soft feel to it and I think the tonal scale is generally nicely represented given the lighting conditions. I probably would be tinkering with that foreground log to see if I could raise its value a bit on the areas where no bark is........but I really like it.
